12th Annual Golf
Scholarship Fundraiser
Another Record for NM Facility Managers
With 169 golfers playing
and 20 ‘Golf Gang” volunteers helping, another record for the
New Mexico Facility Managers Network is written on the scorecard
of successful fundraising for scholarship benevolence benefiting
Albuquerque’s Central New Mexico Community College.
Commandeering all three “nines” at the beautiful Isleta Eagle
Championship Golf Course, the thundering herd of golfers enjoyed
near perfect weather and the amenities of a new clubhouse,
post-game.
Loyalty from the
membership is the one constant factor in the event’s continued
success. Distinct efforts, large and small, from both countless
companies and outstanding individuals personalized the
gathering.
The trend towards
companies fielding multiple teams of players continued this
year. National Roofing, Southwest Trane, and The Groundskeeper
all played three complete foursomes. And for the second year in
a row, Voss Lighting/Philips Lighting sponsored a $20,000.00
hole-in-one contest, as well as supplying sleeves of balls to
registrants.
If your game was not that
great, then the goodies on the door prize tables probably made
your day. Substantial donations of tools, video equipment, golf
gear, and restaurant gift certificates disappeared out the door
with the athletes after the traditional post-game buffet.
Steve Stoney with
Facility One Solutions, Inc. traveled all the way from Las
Vegas, Nevada, to play as a guest of The Groundskeeper and
summed it up this way: “NMFMN put on a very professional
tournament. The golf course and the clubhouse at Isleta were
superb. The luncheon and the raffle prizes were handled so
well! I left with fond memories and plan to return in the near
future.”
