Biggest
NMFMN Golf Fundraiser EVER Fills UNM Engineering Scholarship
Coffers
One hundred forty golfers on 38 different
teams stampeded the Paradise Hills Country Club greens on August
16th, 2002, in the largest golf outing the
organization of facility managers and their suppliers and
constituents has ever seen.

With
14
holes purchased by company donations and corporate
sponsorships from both Goodrich Aerospace and Public Service
Company of New Mexico, the eighth annual event was a benchmark
for the group.
“We exceeded all expectations,” commented
NMFMN treasurer Brad Sims with Goodrich. “This is about many,
many people working together and pulling together for an
important cause!”
With 95% of all moneys collected in
advance of the event, registration and sign in was smooth
sailing as well over the expected number of sportsmen and women
showed up at the course at 7 am.
Although no one won the “Hole-in-One”
contest co-sponsored by Chick’s Harley-Davidson and Buell, the
beautiful black FX on the fourth hole inspired many to take
their best shot at winning a dream.
Players in the event included people
traveling from as far away as California (Terry Sweeney with
Servicon), Texas (David Tate with Lawson Products), and one
facility manager from the Navajo Nation in Fort Defiance,
Arizona—Wallace Hanley who drove in the night before to mix with
the group!
“Everyone involved did an awesome job!”
exclaimed Robert Cantrell, facility manager for Dominion
Properties. “I play a lot of golf and this is one of the best
tournaments each year! Keep up the good work!”
Public Service of New Mexico and Goodrich
Aerospace underwrite corporate sponsorship of the event.
